There is numerous opinions as to the cause of antisemitism, with the definition as per Google is “Antisemitism is the prejudice, hostility, or discrimination directed specifically toward Jewish people. It is one of the world’s oldest forms of bigotry and operates through systemic persecution, harmful conspiracy theories, and physical violence.”
We however believe that antisemitism will be better defined once we understand the root cause of the problem. For this purpose we would like to start with the a question, “Why “Jew-hatred” with a world that consist of about 2000 cultural ethic groups.?”
The logical approach to answer the question would be to determine what distinguish the Jew from the rest of the cultural ethic groups. The first and foremost distinction apart from any other is that they are a “Covenant people”, meaning that their history is founded in a covenant between the one and only true God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob who became Israel. Why it matters is because a covenant is an everlasting promise, since God covenanted with Himself as it is written in the Bible ( in Hebrew called the book of the covenants). Deuteronomy 29:10-15 “You are standing today, all of you, before the LORD your God: the heads of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, all the men of Israel, your little ones, your wives, and the sojourner who is in your camp, from the one who chops your wood to the one who draws your water, so that you may enter into the sworn covenant of the LORD your God, which the LORD your God is making with you today, that he may establish you today as his people, and that he may be your God, as he promised you, and as he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. It is not with you alone that I am making this sworn covenant, but with whoever is standing here with us today before the LORD our God, and with whoever is not here with us today.”
Between the mentioned covenant and the follow-up in Deuteronomy 30 we read about the dispersion due to disobedience, but God is faithful to His covenant and the restoration thereof as we read in Deuteronomy 30:1-8“And when all these things come upon you, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before you, and you call them to mind among all the nations where the LORD your God has driven you, and return to the LORD your God, you and your children, and obey his voice in all that I command you today, with all your heart and with all your soul, then the LORD your God will restore your fortunes and have mercy on you, and he will gather you again from all the peoples where the LORD your God has scattered you. If your outcasts are in the uttermost parts of heaven, from there the LORD your God will gather you, and from there he will take you. And the LORD your God will bring you into the land that your fathers possessed, that you may possess it. And he will make you more prosperous and numerous than your fathers. And the LORD your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your offspring, so that you will love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, that you may live. And the LORD your God will put all these curses on your foes and enemies who persecuted you. And you shall again obey the voice of the LORD and keep all his commandments that I command you today.
Israel’s existence and relocation to the “Land” as God promised is a confirmation that God is a covenant keeping God, and will do all that He promised in accordance to His covenant. Now when we consider the mentioned we should consider the enemy of God, in order to understand the root cause of antisemitism.
The enemy of God is satan, called the deceiver based on the tactic of warfare he prioritize. God defeated him through the cross of His Son Jesus Christ as it is written in Colossians 2:15 When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities [those supernatural forces of evil operating against us], He made a public example of them [exhibiting them as captives in His triumphal procession], having triumphed over them through [a]the cross.
The enemy knew that his defeat was on hand when God send His Son to Israel in the flesh to redeem and thus fulfil His Covenant made through Abraham to bless all the families on the earth. This Covenant is mentioned in Jeremiah 31:33-34 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the LORD: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”
This new covenant come in fulfilment through Jesus Christ the Son of God. The enemy tried to use Herod in an effort to prevent Jesus from fulfilling the promise, ordered solders to kill every baby boy based on the arrival of the Wise Men who came to bring homage to the new born King of the Jews that was born in Bethlem, written in Micha 5:2 But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days.
The enemy of God did not succeed and Jesus fulfilled the Word of God spoken through the prophets to the glory of God. The enemy thought he succeeded when Jesus was crucified but he was instrumental in Gods mighty Hands to fulfil the new Covenant sacrifice on the cross of Calvary.
Based on all the mentioned the current wave of antisemitism is due because of the birth pains of the woman in Revelation 12. The woman in revelation is Israel that is once again being prepared for the unveiling of the event of all event, the revelation of Jesus Christ that will descend from Heaven on the mount of Olives to take up His Kingship to rule and reign over the world from Israel. The enemy of God, over the centuries from the death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus, tried to stop this coming event, through the closure of the Golden gate to prevent Jesus from entering the Temple mount, the burial sites between mount Olive and the Golden gate to prevent Jesus from entering and many more. The rebirth of the nation Israel initiated the process of the birth pains of the unveiling of Jesus as the King of the Jews and the attack on Israel as a nation and the Land became the focus of the enemy, believing that if the Land is in the hand of the enemy of God the covenant promise as mentioned in Deuteronomy 30, can not be fulfilled and thus declaring that God’s promise cannot be fulfilled. This last day event of antisemitism and anti- Zionism was foretold through the Revelation of Jesus to the apostle John in Revelation 12:1-17 And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. She was pregnant and was crying out in birth pains and the agony of giving birth. And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads seven diadems. His tail swept down a third of the stars of heaven and cast them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she bore her child he might devour it. She gave birth to a male child, one who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron, but her child was caught up to God and to his throne, and the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, in which she is to be nourished for 1,260 days. Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death. Therefore, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!”
And when the dragon saw that he had been thrown down to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child. But the woman was given the two wings of the great eagle so that she might fly from the serpent into the wilderness, to the place where she is to be nourished for a time, and times, and half a time. The serpent poured water like a river out of his mouth after the woman, to sweep her away with a flood. But the earth came to the help of the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed the river that the dragon had poured from his mouth. Then the dragon became furious with the woman and went off to make war on the rest of her offspring, on those who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus. And he stood on the sand of the sea.
On Oct 7 2023 Hamas who through the border from Gaza into Israel killing 1300 Israel citizens and 250 hostages. That day we saw a spiritual boundary the enemy of God trespassed as the enemy challenged the spiritual authority of God and His covenant promises. This horrific act was followed with a pre-planned propaganda campaign against Israel, in order create a mindset in the world that the Covenant of God a parable, only an ideology and not the truth. What we as Christians need to understand is that the propaganda is not only directed against Israel as a nation, it is directed at God’s covenant promise concerning the Land God promised to Abraham. If the enemy through lies and propaganda, can convince the Christians that the covenant God made with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is no longer binding then the covenant through our Lord and Saviour will also be questioned. Enemy is trying to kill the male child in revelation through the church Rev 12:13 the woman being the land of Israel and then the next target is those who testify concerning the Lamb of God!
